At your vacation rental from Pocono Mountain Rentals, great golf in Poconos PA is never far away. One of the best courses in the region is right in our backyard: the 27 breathtaking holes of Split Rock Country Club. Open to the public, the course features a North (18 holes) and South Course (9 holes), with luxuriant fairways that call for accurate tee shots, doglegs that keep you on your toes, and protected greens that offer challenges and thrills when you nail that perfect shot. The 11th hole – a monstrous 585-yard par 5 – undulates over the Pennsylvania hills and is widely held to be the most scenic hole on any course in the northeast. Check out the incredible views for yourself, but be sure to bring your driver!
Jack Frost National, also close to our properties, offers 7,200 yards of forgiving fairways if you prefer your challenges on serpentine greens. A truly gorgeous course, it perfectly contours the foothills of the Poconos and is dripping with natural charm as it takes you on a journey through wooded forests, shady glens, and lush river valleys. It also boasts a top-notch practice facility if you need a tune-up.
The Poconos are a golf haven, and several legendary golf course architects have lent their skills to the area’s courses. The Country Club of the Poconos was designed by Jim Fazio, and offers great golfing at municipal course prices (membership not required). If you have always wanted to play the famous courses of the world, don’t miss Mount Airy Casino Resort, where architect Hal Purdy has reinterpreted some of golf’s best holes. You’ll get to test your game on holes from Pebble Beach, Oakland Hills, Merion, and even Augusta. Don’t get caught up in the lore, however; the course confounds the errant shot with ponds, streams, and hazards lying in wait throughout the beautiful landscape.
