ISOLATED ACTIVITIES IN THE POCONOS

The world is a different place these days as we slowly emerge from the restrictions and shutdowns related to COVID-19 and continue to learn how to social distance even as we feel the need to travel to unknown places. Fortunately, the borders are opening again, but that doesn’t mean we want to go back to the way things once were; instead, we need to discover new ways of doing our favorite things, at least until this pesky pandemic has been wrangled under control! This guide to the best things to do in the Poconos in isolation you can enjoy during your passage to Pennsylvania and your stay in one of our clean, sanitary, and oh so comfortable Pocono Vactination escapes will ensure that every minute of your stay is fun, entertaining, and safe!

A Walk in the Park

For these activities to do in the Poconos, we’re not suggesting that you spend time in a city park that is crowded with local residents all wanting to have a good time. We are suggesting a visit to Big Pocono State Park, located in nearby Tannersville, and a good old-fashioned hike through the wilderness. Offering over 1300 acres of tranquil vistas and well-marked trails, the park is big enough that you could walk for hours and never come across another soul. It doesn’t get much more distant than that!

Lake Wallenpaupack

Lake activities to do in the Poconos can be as inclusive or as isolated as you want, especially when you choose to hang out in the largest lake in the Poconos, Lake Wallenpaupack! This manmade lake is over 5700 acres and offers walking trails, secluded fishing spots, and of course, if you rent a boat, you can social distance as you work on your tan from the deck of your vessel.

Mountain Biking

Unless you rent a tandem bike that is not appropriate for riding the trails throughout the Pennsylvania countryside, biking is one of the best things to do in the Poconos for isolation. Pitting man against nature, your focus will be on making it over the next hill, feeling the joy of “flight” as you speed down the trail, and catching glimpses of the landscape on the moments you let your attention wander from the task at hand. Mountain bikes can be rented at most bike or sports stores in the area.

POCONO MOUNTAIN PAINTBALL

The Pocono Mountains make up some of the most beautiful wilderness in the northeast United States. People come to take advantage of this beauty, and they do this through countless avenues, like river rafting, kayaking, mountain biking, fishing, and much more. But not every amazing opportunity here occurs naturally, as one of the most fun ways to spend a day in the area is to visit Pocono Mountain Paintball.

The Best Pocono Mountain Paintball in Town

These are the best paintball opportunities in the state because of the low rates, great equipment, and incomparable playing fields. In total, you will find 12 fields, each offering something unique. Three of these are scenario fields which provide for unique fun and challenges. Throughout the fields, you will find streams, hills, hollows, open airs, thick forest, buildings, bunkers, and more. The variety that you will find throughout these fields makes for some of the best paintball anywhere. Another thing that makes this the best experience is the lack of wait times. The staff here closely monitors how many people are on the fields to ensure there are never over 100 players. This maximizes your fun and minimizes standing around time. Another aspect of the experience here is the top of the line rental equipment that is available to all visitors. You can also take advantage of convenient features like hot showers, changing rooms, and picnic areas. To top it all off, every player gets to enjoy a FREE hot dog barbecue after the endless fun that the games provide.

More Ways to Explore

While paintballing is the bread and butter here, they offer many more services that allow you to enjoy the area in different ways. They offer some of the best tour/adventure experiences in the form of white water rapids rafting, mountain bike excursions, kayaking, and more. They also offer one of the most unique experiences in their zip-line adventure featuring a 900-foot journey, where you will reach speeds over 30 miles per hour. This is an exhilarating ride that also gives you a unique vantage point from which to enjoy the beauty here.

POCONOS FAMILY ACTIVITIES

If you’re thinking about taking a relaxing lake-side vacation with your family, consider a trip to Lake Harmony in the Pocono Mountains in eastern Pennsylvania. The lake itself offers ample family-friendly activities, including swimming and water sports. There are also many hiking trails around the lake, including ones that lead you to waterfalls. If you are visiting during the winter, you can go tubing; if you are looking for something less outdoorsy there is also an indoor water park and miniature golf in the area. Here are some of the best Poconos family activities near Lake Harmony.

A Lake Day is One of the Best Poconos Kid Activities

Lake Harmony itself is one of the main attractions of the area. There are several beaches and designated swimming areas where you can get into the lake and splash around. The lake is privately owned, but if you stay at one of our rentals, we will provide you with passes to get into the swimming areas. If you are traveling with older kids or teenagers, you can consider renting a powerboat and going out on the lake for some tubing. There are several boat rentals in the area where you can rent wakeboards and tubes to pull behind your boat.

Hike to a Waterfall

Hawks Waterfall is located in Hickory Run State Park. The hike to this roaring waterfall is short and easy and can be done with young children. Once you get to the falls, there are places where you can stop and enjoy the view. There are also spots where you can get into the water to cool off; just don’t go too close to the waterfall.

Play at Split Rock Resort Indoor Water Park

If you are visiting Lake Harmony on a day when the weather isn’t great, you can still enjoy some fun in the water at the Split Rock Resort Indoor Water Park, one of the best Poconos family activities. The waterpark has a section for younger kids with small waterslides and floating lily pads and logs. For older kids, there are three different four-story tall water slides. Parents can relax by floating down the lazy river or sitting in the Lava Springs hot tubs.

Go Tubing at Jack Frost Big Boulder

If you are visiting Lake Harmony during the winter, you can go tubing down Jack Frost Big Boulder. You can rent tubes and ride up a conveyor belt to the top of the hill. Once you get to the top, slide down one of the groomed hills. Tubing is available for kids age three and up. The mountain also has a ski lift for skiing and snowboarding.
